How Salt Chlorination Works:

The operation of a salt chlorinator involves passing a low-voltage electrical current through a cell that contains plates coated with a precious metal, often titanium with a Mixed Metal Oxide (MMO) coating. As water flows through the cell, the electrolysis process causes the salt molecules to break down into sodium and hypochlorous acid (HOCl), the active form of chlorine responsible for disinfection.
